Jasmine's Story...
Jasmine is a sweet, very affectionate cat who loves attention and gets along well with other cats. She is small and round, with gorgeous green eyes, and goes limp when held by the scruff to lower into a carrier--she is that calm, kind, and trusting because people have been kind to her.

She came to us because two male cats in the home she was adopted into as a kitten were not being nice to her. Because that is the only home she knew growing up, she is becoming introduced to new loving people, so she can become a little excited when petted and give a little love nip now and then, but she means no harm and you can see it coming.

To see Jasmine, submit an online cat adoption application at http://hsfc.org/adoptions/applications/online/. Our cat, rabbit, small mammal, and bird offices are at 4057 Chain Bridge Road, Fairfax, VA. We offer walk-in viewing Monday through Friday from 10 am to 4 pm (3 pm on Saturdays) and extended hours on Wednesdays until 7 pm by APPOINTMENT. Call 703-385-7387 to schedule yours!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jasmine, a Fairfax Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Fairfax, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Fairfax.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Fairfax already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Fairfax breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Fairfax paves the way for another one to be saved.
