Travis is accepting applications for his forever loving home!
Travis is an adorable approximately 2 and 1/2-year-old 9-pound male chocolate Miniature Pinscher.
Travis is a very playful little boy but also just adores lap time with his favorite humans. Travis gets along extremely well with his little schnauzer terrier mix foster sister, Daisy; however, he is very selective so being an only child may work out just fine for Travis! But if he does get along well with another dog he is very playful.
Travis is very talkative and so much fun!
Travis started out emaciated but has gained his weight back. The Vet said his muscle tone was very good so he stayed healthy in-spite of being so thin.
Travis needs an adult only home. He is protective (fear based). Foster mom and dad are working with him on this (with the help of a trainer). Travis also picks one owner so a one owner home would probably be best for Travis, he may do well with a dog savvy couple willing to continue training and working on his fear behaviors. Positive reinforcement gentle training will be required. Continued gentle training is strongly suggested to help him overcome his fear based behavior.
Travis is a very lovable boy and will be a very loyal companion.
Travis is very expressive and will just squeal in delight when he sees his favorite people.
It may take Travis a while to warm up because of his rough start in life but once he bonds he will love you with his whole heart!
Travis does very well going potty outside in his foster home; however, he may need to learn the routine in a new home.
Travis is current on vaccinations and has been neutered and microchipped.

Our Adoption Process...

AFCHS is a non-sheltered humane society organization modeled after some of the more progressive humane societies. We do not believe any home is better than no home, but instead, work to find the right home for each specific animal.
If you are interested in adopting an animal, please fill out and submit the adoption questionnaire or call 209-368-1761 or 209-365-0535. ALL of the fields on the application MUST be filled out or the application will not send, if this happens your time will have been lost. If you are having trouble filling out the on-line application we can email you a copy to fill out. You can also copy the application and paste it into a word document, fill it out and then send it to us at please call us afternoons at 209-368-1761 or 209-365-0535
Filling out a questionnaire is not a commitment to adopt. It does help us determine if the dog or cat you inquire about is suitable for your home and to suggest others not yet on our site.
While we have some dogs and cats at our Sanctuary most of them are in foster care or rescue homes. An application must be completed before an appointment can be set to meet them.
