Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bert came to Chicago all the way from San Antonio, Texas along with his friend Ernie, hoping to find his forever home. Of course it was Ernie's idea: he wanted to get out of the shelter! These two pups are still together in the same foster home, still up to mischief, and happy as clams. Bert is a beautiful dog, who looks like a shepherd/retriever mix. He weighs just under 30 pounds and is about 5 1/2 months old.
His foster mom tells us Bert is friendly, outgoing, and always looking for human affection. He follows her everywhere, wanting to be where the action is. Bert has typical enthusiastic puppy energy, and would love an active family or a back yard and another doggy playmate. Although he enjoys being with Ernie, Bert is ready for a home to call his own.
Bert's foster family has 2 other dogs, 3 cats and 4 kids, so we know he is good with dogs, cats, kids and lots of activity! He is learning to walk nicely on a leash and is making progress on his potty-training. Because he is still young, Bert needs a family where someone is home part or all of the day to continue his house-training and work with him on basic obedience.
Bert's adoption fee of $325 includes: vet exam, DAPP (distemper combo) vaccination, bordetella vaccination, rabies vaccination, routine deworming, flea/tick preventative, heartworm preventative, microchip and neuter.
