Facts about Buddy

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Orange Or Red Tabby
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Male
  • Hair: Short
Buddy is a large-framed red tabby. He is 16 pounds but not really overweight because he is just a big cat. He seems to be about 2 years of age. When in the top cradle of the cat tree, he rolls, turns his head upside down to flirt, and reaches out as approached. Then he comes down and parades and gives lots of leg rubbing. He also likes sitting on a lap and getting petted. He is playful, every time foster mom comes to his room, his carrier has been moved to a different place. He's good about nail trims and uses a scratching device. Typical of a red tabby male, he is very sweet and affectionate. Please contact Carol at 913 469 9881 or at cjdavis@everestkc.net

About Heart of America Humane Society

About Our Rescue Group...

The Heart of America Humane Society is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization helping to place shelter and foster animals into permanent homes in and around the greater Kansas City metro area.

Our goal is to save and improve the lives of Kansas City's homeless companion animals by promoting responsible pet ownership. The Heart of America Humane Society (HAHS) partners with the Lee's Summit Animal Shelter (Lee's Summit, MO) to manage a spay/neuter program and to increase pet adoptions into responsible, permanent homes.

Background
Our organization does not have a permanent facility or paid staff, so nearly all of our adoptions or other community involvement takes place on-site at pet stores and through other event venues. Some events raise awareness and bring in donations for our animal support efforts, while others help acknowledge and show appreciation for our own volunteers (who perform all duties outside of their regular jobs). HAHS maintains a News and Events Web page to highlight these efforts.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Adopt-A-Pet Events in the Kansas City Community.

Dog and cat adoptions are held at the PETsMART at 115th and Metcalf in Overland Park, KS every Saturday from 12 to 3pm. Cats available for adoption every day at PETsMART's in-store cage area.

Dog and cat adoptions are held at the PETsMART in Olathe, KS at 119th and Strang Line, also every Saturday from noon to 3pm.

Our Adoption Process...

How much does it cost to adopt an animal?

The cost of adoptions of puppies 5 months and younger is $200. While some of the adult dogs coming into our program are already spayed/neutered, all of the puppies require this expense from HAHS. The cost of dogs over the age of 6 months is $150. The cost of one kitten under the age of 5 months is $85 and for 2 kittens it is $130. The cost of one cat over the age of 6 months is $65 and for two cats it is $100.
