"Yabba dabba do! My name's FRED. I came to the El Cajon Animal Shelter with my friend (sister?) Wilma when we got lost and didn't know how to get home. Wilma's been adopted, so now it's my turn. I'm a friendly fellow, and I aim to please. I'm a sweet boy who's looking for someone who'll take good care of me. I know how to sit on command, and I'm happy to learn anything else you'd like to teach me. I'm a very good boy with an innocent face and a loving soul. I'm just two years old, so it will be important for me to get daily exercise. I'll need to have a fenced yard, too. I like to go for walks and chase after toys, but I'm not overly energetic. I'm a patient, tolerant dog, and I'd be a wonderful family pet in a home where the kids are older. I enjoyed spending time with Wilma, so there's a good chance I'd get along well with a larger female dog in my new home. We'd have to meet to be sure. One thing is for sure, I appreciate love and affection from people, so I'd want to have a nice doggie bed in my new home so I can be part of the family. Won't you please come visit me? I'd love to start my new life with you right away. Love, Fred"
We are the Animal Shelter for the City of El Cajon. We also house animals for the City of La Mesa. We take in strays and animals relinquished by their owners from these two City's only. We adopt out the animals that are not claimed by their owners. You do not have to live within the City to adopt an animal from us. We sometimes have animals other than dogs and cats.
Come Meet Our Pets...
We are located in the City of El Cajon which is east of San Diego. 1275 N. Marshall is two blocks north of Fletcher Parkway, Marshall runs parallel with the trolley tracks.
We are open Tuesday thru Saturday 10am to 5pm. The latest we start an adoption is 4:30. We are closed Sundays and Mondays.
Our Adoption Process...
Our adoption fee for dogs is $80.00 and cats are $80.00 All other animal adoption fee's are based on the type of animal.
We do an evaluation with you and the animal to be sure that it is the best animal for you. We require that all children in the household under 9 years old be evaluated with the animal and if you are adopting a dog and you currently own a dog, your dog needs to be evaluated with the new dog to be sure they get along.
