My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Someone spotted Auggie this 2 year old mix in the area of East 31st Street and West River Road in Sheffield back in August. He weighed only 30 pounds and was unable to walk. Patrolman Rick Broz immediately took Auggie to Dr. Thomas Wood at the Lorain Animal Clinic. Auggie had been starved and kept in a cage for months. Dr. Wood said it was one of the worst cases of neglect he's ever seen. After lots of tender loving care from the Clinic, Friendship and super foster Ron Straub, Auggie is healthy and happy again, back at Friendship and waiting for his forever home.

This is what Auggie's foster dad had to say about him..."Auggie is a true survivor. A few videos can be seen on the Fox8.com website by clicking on search and typing Auggie or the Friendship APL Facebook site. I fostered him for a month and found him to be a really great dog. Auggie was easy to adapt to his foster home and quiet in his kennel. He never had to coaxed, I just told him to go in his kennel and he went. The last week he slept at the foot of my bed. He is house trained. Aug can be mischievous if left alone. It's best to kennel him if you're not going to be home. He's not destructive just curious. He will get into things that he can reach. He still has some puppy behavior in that he feels things with his mouth and likes to play with your hand. Scolding him will cause him to cower. He should outgrow this behavior. He is a smart dog and learned to sit and stay quickly. Auggie is street wise and has a healthy fear of cars on the road."

Auggie is a strong boy that was well behaved in his foster home. You can see what Auggie looked like in the last photo of the post. He's come a long way! Auggie would be so appreciative to find the loving home he's never had. Stop by Friendship soon and adopt Auggie. This poor boy finally found a home and was doing well. His family was going on vacation and there was no one to care for Auggie so they brought him back to the shelter. Auggie deserves better.

If you have kids and/or another dog in your family and are interested in adopting a Friendship dog please bring them with you for a meet and greet. No appointment is necessary. Stop by anytime during regular business hours.

All dogs receive one or more vaccinations, a basic veterinary examination, are wormed, heartworm tested and spayed or neutered. Dogs 3 months and older are micro-chipped.
