I am already spayed, housetrained, a special needs pet, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, good with kids, not good with dogs, and not good with cats.
Gerry is a really sweet dog that has a story to tell, if only she could talk! Something happened to this poor girl that has left her suspecious and afraid of other dogs, even little dogs scare her. She can become friends with other large males if done properly and really does enjoy their company, she should most likely never be trusted unsupervised with small dogs due to prey drive. She loves to go for walks and runs and she is a very clean girl, she really wants a human of her own.
I chose to do senior and special needs rescue because these types of dogs are often left behind and seldom get adopted from shelters, we also offer a forever foster program for some of Hank's Hounds where we supply the food and vetting for the rest of the senior's life as long as it is with our approved rescue vet.
Our Adoption Process...
Our adoption fee depends on the dog you are adopting, since we are a senior and special needs rescue sometimes fees go's towards future vetting and such. There is an application to adopt and if that looks good we will schedule a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in, if this go's well we will do a home check upon which if both parties agree to the adoption and terms of an adoption contract will be required. We do require personal references as well as one from your Vet.
Thank You! Your message has been sent to Hank's Hostel Fur Hounds.
You'll receive a copy, too, at
to help you keep track of which pets you've inquired about, and which shelters and rescues you've emailed.
NOTE: Some shelters have physical locations you can visit; some of these shelters may only have pets for a limited time, so please do not wait for a reply—just go visit the shelter!
Other organizations are rescue groups run by busy volunteers who may take a while to reply. You can find information about the shelter or rescue group caring for this pet, and their adoption procedures,
on the pet's details page on Adopt-a-Pet.com.
