My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Well hi there! My name is Lucky, and I am a purebred tricolor male Shih Tzu who weighs 13 pounds and who was born in November 2010. You can learn more about my precious, charming lapdog breed by watching the attached 3-minute You Tube video that appeared on Animal Planet or by googling 'Dogs 101 Shih Tzu.' You'll just love my adorable appearance with my moustache, beard, and a tail that curls over my back. One caveat about me that you should know up-front is that my long hair needs a 'puppy cut' about ever 4-6 weeks.
I find myself in quite a pickle in that my mom had a stroke and can no longer take care of me. To make matters worse, her son and wife wanted to keep me but realized that they are both allergic to my dander.
So after living a coddled, sheltered existence with my one beloved human for my whole life, I find myself thrown into all sorts of new situations for which I was totally unprepared! For example, I didn't know what to think of my new caretakers, Mom's son and his wife, so I was didn't trust these 'strangers' at first. I soon learned that my heart could be re-assured: they fed me all sorts of goodies to show me their good will, and I warmed up to them quickly. So then I could relax and become my cuddly, loving self who adores to be right up in my human's lap.
I hope that you have already fallen in love with me from my photos and personal story and that you have decided that you are the one who will step up and give me a new home. With my sweet disposition, I will make a great pet for many families, including senior citizens. I've never been around other dogs or kids yet and have been around only one cat, but I did just fine with the cat and probably would do fine with other dogs and gentle children.
I'm just a fur bundle waiting to give and receive lots of love. Just be prepared to be patient until I get adjusted to my new 'digs.' And -- although I hate to admit it -- I also will need some help brushing up on my housetraining skills.
