A total-package family pet, this gorgeous, calm, and affectionate canine girl will form a deep bond with kind owners who reciprocate the warmth and allegiance she offers. Anya absolutely craves close contact and attention, she thrives with companionship, and she wants above all else to be welcomed into her new forever family. A heart-and-soul, people-loving young girl, Anya is all about the bonds she will share with her family. Playful, friendly, sensitive, and intelligent, she is more than ready to leave the shelter behind to begin the next role of her life…that of much-loved, always included, furry family member!
Nothing will set Anya up for success like responsible, caring owners who provide the routine and structure she, like all dogs, want; this provides a measure of security as well as a sense of belonging. A bit on the shy side, unsure of what to expect, Anya also needs an owner who respects her need to size up new situations and people…only a respectful minute is necessary, though, as she warms up very quickly. To help build her confidence, she needs patient leadership from family members who present achievable challenges towards which she can strive and accomplish; Anya utterly revels inwarm praise when she accomplishes a task! Positive socialization experiences will also boost her confidence and help ensure she is a happy, well-mannered dog.
Like all dogs, Anya needs, both, physical and mental activity to stay happy and healthy. Regular leashed walks, interactive outdoor play, and adventurous jaunts with adored family members will meet most of this girl’s exercise needs. And no doubt at the close of each day, Anya will surely appreciate the leisure time where she can snuggle up close for some hands-on affection!
Anya is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a moderately-active lifestyle. As with all dogs, a meet-n-greet with any housemate dogs will be necessary to determine compatibility prior to adoption. Direct interaction with cats is unknown and cannot be fully assessed at the shelter at this time.

Monroe SPCA also offers microchips for dogs and cats adopted from Monroe County Animal Control for a fee of $15.00 at the time of adoption. Microchips are implanted between the dog’s shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. Microchips are registered to Monroe SPCA with adopters adding “new owner” information after adoption. If the dog is ever lost and slips his or her collar and tags, the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact when the dog is scanned for a microchip.
Even if you cannot adopt at this time, please consider making a donation to Monroe SPCA so we may continue saving, protecting, and improving the lives of homeless animals in Monroe County.
