My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What is your name? Ripley

How old are you? I’m about 5 months old

How much do you weigh? About 30 lbs.

What do you look like? My foster dad says I look like dobby from Harry Potter. I’ve got cute big ears, cute big eyes and a nice short brindle coat. I also have a little bit of a underbite, but it adds to my adorableness.

What do you like to eat? I love my normal dog food I get from cost co. My foster parents add some water and coconut oil into it as well. I also love these fish oil treats and to sneak and eat my foster sisters left overs that drop on the floor when my foster mom isn’t looking.

What kind of personality do you have? I’m very relaxed. Even though I’m a puppy, I love to cuddle and sleep. I enjoy playing with my foster brother and sister outside. But they are too fast for me. I try to get my tug on in tug of war, but they are stronger too. I still try though! I love to sit, stay and learn new tricks. Very eager to please by cuddles or play time. But, if you let me, I’ll sleep under the blankets and watch movies with you all day long.

Describe your perfect day:
My perfect day is getting up to eat while my foster sister gets ready for school. Then going out for a walk only to come home and cuddle under the blankets and watch a movie. I love being outside, but I love cuddles with humans even more.

What is your favorite toy? My favorite toy is my octopus. It’s tough, chewy and it squeaks!

Do you know any tricks? I know how to sit and stay! I’m still learning how to lay down, but I don’t really like to. I enjoy sitting much better but I’m watching my foster sister lay down and she gets praised so I think I’m going to try it more too!

What scares you? I’m not scared of anything! I laugh in the face of danger!!

Have you been around children? Do you like them? Oh yes! My human foster sister is 4 years old and I love it when she cuddles me. I even let her give me treats and pet me and lay on me. Once she pulled up my lip to see my underbite and I totally didn’t mind. But my foster mom still told her not to bug me like that. But I honestly didn’t mind at all!

Do you like cats? Yes, cats are cute! I love to watch my foster brother cat and lay with him. Sometimes I follow him around the house just to annoy him.

How do you feel about other dogs? I love other dogs! I love to play and have fun. Though I growl a bit at first, it’s because they bark at me! I just want them to come sniff me and play!

If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be? Under the blankets with my forever family!

How is your health? Great! I’m a healthy puppy!

Who do you live with your foster home and who is your closest companion? In my foster home I live with my two human foster parents, human foster sister, two dogs and two cats! We all get along really well. I love to cuddle with everyone equally. In fact I will sit on my foster brother then after a few minutes I’ll go cuddle with my foster mom and then go sit with my foster dad. I just can’t get enough cuddles!

Where do you hang out when you are home alone? When I’m home alone I like to sleep in my kennel. I snore a bit but it’s super cute!

Where do you sleep? I sleep in my kennel. It’s my comfy place.

Do you like walking on a leash? I LOVE IT!!! I’ve been practicing.

Do you have any "not-so-great" habits that we should know about? For instance, do you bark or dig in the yard? Well…sometimes I get worked up and bark through the fence. But it’s because the other dog starts it! Also, I like to chew stuffed animals…so if they aren’t mine they shouldn’t be left out on the floor.

Are you house trained? (Meaning do you go potty outside) Yes! I haven’t had any accidents in a long time. But I’m not the best at vocalizing. I don’t really bark or talk much, so my foster mom lets me out every time I come out of the kennel and then she checks on me every so often.

Do you like water? I love water. And I love baths! Not a fan of the dryer but I tolerate it because my foster brother and sister love it!

What do you love about your foster family? That they cuddle me soooooo much! I know I’m a puppy and I’m supposed to be hyper but really I just want to cuddle all the time!! I love playing with other dogs, so when they are around I’m always trying to play. But I love how every night we cuddle and watch beauty and the beast with my human foster sister.

What was your life like before being brought into NorCal Bully Breed Rescue?
I don’t like to think about it. I was cold, alone and never got any cuddles. I was brought into the shelter and going to be put down because of my under bite…even though I was only 4 months old!! It’s not even that bad, and I think I’m still cute. I have no aggression, only love to give. I was so scared and sad and so thankful when NorCal Bully Breed Rescue came and got me! I’ve really blossomed and been able to show how much love I have to give!

NorCal Bully Breed Rescue is a foster based rescue with foster homes spread all throughout the Sacramento area. We usually require our adopters to be within a 50 to 100 mile radius of us, depending on the dog, and depending on the home. This is because we need to do a yard check to guarantee that the potential adopter's yard is secure, and also have them be close enough should any behavioral issues arise, and the assistance of our trainer is needed. We are, however, willing to adopt out of our area, including the Bay Area, Tahoe, and even further. We've even adopted out of state on very special occasions. We try our best to match our dogs to the perfect homes, and match them based on their personalities, not their looks. Adoptions are not done on a first come, first serve basis, rather in the order of what homes are the right match for that particular dog. Our adoption fees are based on the dog and range from $200-$350. In the case of senior dogs (6+ years), fees will be waived to the right home. This includes spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and deworming (if necessary).

Ripley's adoption donation is $350.

Interested in meeting Ripley or any of our available pooches? Complete and submit our adoption application on our website norcalbullybreedrescue.com and we will respond to you within 24 to 48 hours.
