Meet the infamous Houdini! If you haven’t seen his rescue video, check it out! It is by far one of the most exciting rescue videos out there. Now that we’ve got this little guy in our hands, we’ve learned that he is first and foremost a magician. It goes like this, you meet him, he locks eyes with you, gives you a kiss, crawls up on your lap and hocus pocus he has stolen your heart! Houdini is wicked smart and loves to learn new tricks. This 2 ½ year old learned to high five for his supper in mere seconds. Houdini weighs in at about 12 pounds and is learning to use a leash. Since Houdini lived as a stray for a very long time, he is still a serious flight risk. He needs another dog to be his buddy and to show him just how amazing it is to be a loved part of a family. A very secure yard with a fence a minimum of 6 feet is also necessary. Houdini is an absolutely fantastic dog but because of his past he needs a very serious adopter who will be able to convince this fella that life of the streets is the way to live and prosper.

If you're interested in adopting this pet please fill out our matchmaking questionnaire ( We are volunteer based and will do our best to get back to you within 72 hours. Please do not call as our phone is intended for emergencies only. If we feel that one of our dogs is a good match we will set up a private meet and greet We do not have a physical location where you can come and meet all the dogs at once, so meet and greets may take a little time to coordinate. Our requested adoption donation is $300 and all adopters are required to fill out an adoption agreement.

The Rescue Promise

There is an old Chinese proverb that states: “If you save a life, you are responsible for that life”. Rescue From The Hart honors this philosophy with every animal that we rescue. When we say “yes” to a dog or cat in need, we are making a promise that we will provide them with anything they need to be happy and healthy, for the rest of their life. This means never cutting corners, never take the easy way out and never looking at one of our rescued as just another number. We make the same commitment to our adopters by going the extra mile to help educate them, support them during tragedies, and be there to offer solutions if their lives happen to get turned upside down.

When you support Rescue From The Hart, you help enable us to continue making the “Rescue Promise” to homeless and abandoned pets everywhere!
