My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Yvette is a beautiful black, bobtail female. She's a bit camera shy, so her photographs don't really do her the justice that she deserves! She can be a bit of a diva, and puts on a brave front when faced with new people and situations. But don't let her little hissy fit fool you. Once you start petting or brushing her she calms right down and before you know it she's in your arms. She would prefer a quiet home, with other cats that also enjoy the quiet life. She has bonded fairly quickly with her foster mom, so she should do the same with her new family. Yvette has been spayed and is up to date on her vaccinations (Fvrcp, Feline Leukemia and Rabies) and has tested negative for Feline Leukemia. She is hoping that her forever family will find her soon! Do you think you are the one? If so, email today for an application!

Our kitty adoption fee is $225. This includes the kitties shots/negative feline leukemia & FIV test and vaccine/spay or neuter/worming and flea and tick protections AS WELL AS TRANSPORT to your area!
Please email Poochesandpurrs1@gmail.com for a KITTY SPECIFIC application! Our auto response will send you email info about adopting a dog and a link to our doggy application. Once we receive your request we will send you what you need to apply! Thanks!

Once we receive your complete application, an adoption counselor will call you within 48 hours of receipt of the application. During the adoption interview, the adoption counselor will tell you more about the cat/kitten and our adoption processes, as well as answer any questions you have.
cats and kittens are up-to-date on their vaccinations, spayed/neutered, de-wormed, treated for fleas/ticks and Feline Leukemia negative before leaving rescue. You will receive complete medical records for your cat or kitten at the time of adoption.

The adoption fee is $225 and covers the cost of all veterinary care and transportation to your area.
Our cats and kittens are delivered via a USDA-certified van transport and receive an Interstate Health Certificate -- issue by a licensed, accredited veterinarian -- no more than 10 days before the cat or kitten leaves rescue.

All of our cats and kittens come into rescue from the "death row" of animal shelters in the south, or are owner surrenders or strays who were "pound bound" before coming into rescue. Adopting a cat or kitten from the Dixie Pet Underground Railroad means you are truly part of a partnership to save the life of the cat or kitten that you welcome into your family.

Our cats or kittens are fostered at our rescue in Tennessee, meaning that it isn't possible to meet the cat or kitten before adoption. Our adoption counselor works with you to do everything possible to ensure that there is a good match between the family and the cat. We have had several hundred cats adopted using this process and most of the time, it results in happy kittens and happy people.

If for any reason an adoption is not successful, the Dixie Pet Underground Railroad will work with the adopter to find the best possible solution for the cat and the adopting family.

We can provide contact information for adopters in your area who can tell you about their experience partnering with the Underground Railroad to save the life of a cat and make the animal a part of their family.

We look forward to hearing from you and working with you to find the right cat for your family!
