Hello! My name is Phoenix! I am being surrendered by my owner to a rescue group. I am a male shepherd mix and I was adopted when I was about 4 months old. I am now 5 years old and 46 lbs. At home I am the sweetest dog that you will ever meet, I love to cuddle, take naps and I will do anything to please my owners. I love going for walks and runs. However, I am a bit fearful and I am startled by loud, unfamiliar noises. I take a minute to warm up to strangers, especially men. I am neutered and current on all of my vaccinations. I have been boarded multiple times and do well with other dogs. I have not been around children or cats. I am being surrendered because I nipped a few people in the past. It appears to always be linked to me being startled and caught off guard by a male. My nips have broken skin but have never required stitches or been severe. I spent time at a doggie “boot camp” learning how to sit, stay, place, come, quiet and leave it. My rescue believes that I nip because I am scared. Each time I retreated right after. My owners would like to keep me and work with me on this but with their first child just born they simply cannot give me the time that I need. At this point, the local humane society where I live has said that they will put me down if I am brought to them.
