My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sammy is a 3 year old Lab mix in need of a new home because his owner had to go into assisted living. Sammy was extremely nervous and scared when he first came into the Shelter's care. One of our volunteers decided to foster him and he is starting to relax in a home environment with two other dogs and a steady routine. He does like to follow his foster mom around the house and his favorite place is under her desk in the kitchen where he can keep an eye on everything. Sammy sleeps all night on his blankets next to his foster parent’s bed and he does not make a peep until everyone gets up in the morning. We are guessing he didn't go on many walks in his previous home, because he is very skittish outside and doesn't seem comfortable walking on a leash. In his foster home, Sammy is working on leash walking and is slowly making progress and starting to enjoy his daily walks. Sammy is fully housebroken and would do well with a family with older children. He is gentle and does love to play with toys. His ideal home would have a fenced yard where he could go out and feel comfortable with his new owner and continue to get acclimated to leash walking. He weighs 72 lbs.

If you are interested in adopting a dog, please fill out our dog adoption application here: http://medfieldshelter.com/adopt. Our dog adoption fee is $350. Every dog we place is vaccinated, wormed, treated for ticks/fleas, and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash and a month's worth of heartworm preventative.

With very few exceptions, dogs are happiest and the most well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families who are willing to make a commitment to both.

All adoption meetings are by appointment only as we only have one employee. Our manager or one of our volunteers will be happy to set up an appointment for you to come meet the pets, but please fill out the adoption application first.
