My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, I'm Topher and I'm a 6 year old Yorkie. I came from a puppy mill where I was used as a stud dog. A nice lady took me from the mill and had me neutered and my teeth cleaned. There wasn't much to clean though, as all of my teeth were bad so I only have 3 left. That is why my tongue hangs out. I've been passed to a few homes so far because of my house training but I'm almost 100% there in my foster home.

Thanks to all of your donations, I'm scheduled to have surgery within the next month to repair my severe luxating patellas. The ARP is now accepting applications for my adoption.

We are still raising money for the extra procedure I had done, so any amount you can donate would be appreciated. http://awos.petfinder.com/shelters/MI776.html. If you go to this page the donate button to click on is on the right side. Just make sure that you specify it is for me (Topher).

****My adoption fee is $295.****

The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed.

All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws.

Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization.

The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.
