My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

JAKE is a 2 year old neutered yellow male Lab who weighs 93 pounds. Jake is sweet and full of youthful energy. He is easy to fall in love with. He will do best with an active lifestyle. He would love another playful dog to live with or doggie playdates. He gets along very well with other dogs and loves to play but takes the hint if the other dog has had enough. Jake is crate trained, knows basic commands such as sit and down. He does pull on leash so will need training with that, an easy walk harness will help in the meantime. Jake needs room to run. Not approved for apartment/condo/townhouse living. Not recommended for first-time adopters. Jake is a great heated blanket. He's a big puppy so you do have to watch out for flying paws from time to time. He gets along well with the resident male dog. He doesn't do a lot of fetching, but he'll chase sometimes, although he prefers to chase the other dog more. He has learned to use the dog door and doesn't need to be crated. He needs to continue with his obedience training and an adopter who will continue reinforcing his commands. He gets very excited when the leash comes out and enjoys his walks, but he's a strong boy. All around he's a pretty easy foster, but a big dog. He'll do great with a family who has the time to exercise him and continue with his obedience training. He's good with other dogs. He didn't chase the cats he met at the vet's office, but we have no history of him living with any. He's a big boy and will knock over small kids. Jake was given up because he got too big. Jake needs room to run. Not approved for apartment/condo/townhouse living. Not recommended for first-time adopters. He is approved for kids 10+. More info soon!

Update: Jake is a very big, very sweet boy. He knows "sit", "lay down", and "shake". He doesn't seem to understand "come", but he's velcro and likes to follow his foster dad around anyways, so that's a tough one to practice. He knows his name and is house trained. He's a smart boy, and got the hang of the dog door quickly. He goes into a crate easily and won't immediately run back out again if the door is left open. He's got a big appetite. He loves to snuggle. He loves his furry foster sibling and would love to have a canine buddy to play with (and/or humans home more often than not) as he enjoys the company. He plays with toys sometimes, but isn't super excited by them all the time. His foster dad can get a few fetches out of him when he does decide to play, but that's about it. He enjoys tug of war sometimes. He's fairly mellow until you do something with food or a leash, and then he's ready to go!
