HOW TO ADOPT: An APPLICATION is REQUIRED. THE APPLICATION IS AT: WWW.CTHAR.ORG

EMAIL: IF you email asking questions about these puppies, you will miss out on them. ALL THE INFORMATION WE KNOW IS BELOW SCROLL DOWN. THERE IS NOTHING ELSE WE CAN ANSWER IN AN EMAIL.. We are a VOLUNTEER network and our volunteers ALWAYS process applications before ever opening emails due to time constraints.

ABOUT THE BREED: If you have NO EXPERIENCE as a cocker spaniel owner, do not apply until you have looked at the breed specific needs including regular costly grooming, dietary skin/ear foods that are best for this breed, potential future health issues, as this is a breed predisposed to many things and one of the most costly breeds to own properly.

ALL ABOUT BRODY: Hi there!!! My name is Brody and I am a 13-week old purebred cocker spaniel puppy! I know I am unique to rescue or at least that is what they say, so please be sure to make sure your APPLICATION (WWW.CTHAR.ORG) is complete and very very thorough outlining your experience with cocker spaniels as there will be MANY MANY people who want my brother and I and there are only 2 of us. The breeder works with this rescue to help home our mommy's and daddy's. This rescue fully vets our moms and dads including all their spays, dentals when needed, etc. etc. so when she was having difficulty placing us and reached out to the rescue. The rescue is currently getting us neutered (no pups for us), current on our vaccines, we have been wormed, and we will be ready to go home 12/7/16!!! We are alllllll puppy. That means NO we are not at all housetrained. You will need to completely house break us. That also means we chew. We like to chew on things a lot, so you will need to provide many things for us to chew and also use a crate to prevent us from chewing. If it has been a long while since you had a puppy, make sure that you have and demonstrate on your application the ability to let us out every few hours as we are being house trained with YOU. Also, if you allow us to, we will happily chew on your couch, chews, carpet...so again prevention with crate training us will be the first place to start. We cannot hold our bladders past 4 to 5 hours right now so we cannot be kept in a crate more than 4 hours so make sure you have the TIME as well as the PATIENCE to train a puppy. I AM THE MORE CRAZY GUY LOL (Well I know puppy = crazy so yeah that goes without saying) BUT of the 2 of us I am the more active, brave one :) BUT I like all puppies need lots of play and exercise to konk out and sleep. Also, if you have never owned a cocker you definitely need to go check out all about us. We sure are pretty, but we are costly. We need groomed every 6 to 8 weeks with a professional groomer. We require weekly ear cleanings. We are prone to ear and skin issues and do very well on a grain free diet, which also of course is more costly. But again regular ear cleanings and quality food saves you money on future vet bills that would definitely occur without these preventative measures. I am a puppy so I will be what you make me. I will turn out to be the greatest most well behaved adorable dog or I will turn out to be an unhousetrained, disobedient adorable dog....its all in how much time, effort, and patience, you have in raising me. IF you have breed knowledge, the means to afford my breed, the time, and patience to train a puppy, go and fill out that application. AGAIN it is all volunteers who will be doing these applications and there will be MANY within a few hours and there are only 2 of us. If you do not have the home to offer a puppy please still put in an application to adopt these folks will MATCH YOU UP with the PERFECT dog for you, I promise. Love Brody. WWW.CTHAR.ORG for an application.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

TUCKER**PUREBRED COCKER BLONDE/WHITE 3 MONTHS OLD!!, a Mentor Cocker Spaniel puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cocker Spaniel for sale in Mentor, or seeking a Cocker Spaniel puppy from a breeder in Mentor.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Mentor already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Mentor breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cocker Spaniel breeders who help with Cocker Spaniel rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Mentor paves the way for another one to be saved.
