Facts about Buddy

  • Breed: Golden Retriever
  • Color: Tan/Yellow/Fawn
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
  • Sex: Male
******Pending Adoption*********Buddy is a 7-8 month old Golden Retriever. He is neutered, micro chipped, crate trained and crate potty trained. He is a light cream color.

Buddy was purchased from a breeder at 8 weeks, by a breeder. However, it was discovered that he had an undescended testicle, so the breeder than considered him useless. He was left in the kennel with little socialization for the next several months. When Buddy first came to us, he was afraid of anything and everything.

Over the last month, Ty has worked hard with Buddy and he is now really coming out of his shell. He looks forward to handler contact, he is playing well with other dogs, and he is doing well on leash training. He has been neutered, and he is a healthy, happy pup.

Buddy will need an active owner or family, or a yard to play in. His new owner will need to continue his training and socialization, and have patience with him during the first several weeks as he learns to bond and trust.

Buddy is available for public adoption. That means that you do not need to be a Veteran to adopt him. If you are interested in meeting Buddy, please contact Painted Paws for Veterans.

About Painted Paws for Veterans

About Our Rescue Group...

Painted Paws for Veterans is a Colorado 501(c)(3) Non-Profit who specializes in connecting veterans, and veteran families, to dogs rescued from kill shelters in order to provide emotional support and family companionship.

Since there are so many dogs in shelters looking for a new forever home, we often have more dogs than vets. Any dogs not claimed by a veteran are then offered for open adoption to the public. The adoption fees taken in through community adoptions are then used to help fund our veteran programs.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Visitations on the ranch are by appointment only. We are on winter hours now, so appointments are available between noon and 3 pm on Wednesdays through Saturdays. Please email us if you are interested in meeting one of our dogs or puppies.

We are an outdoor facility. All visitations are conducted in fenced yards around the property. If weather conditions are too bad for our canines, we may ask you to reschedule to another time.

Our Adoption Process...

All adopters are required to fill out an application of interest/adoption. This application does not obligate you to adopt one of our dogs. Nor does it guarantee that you will be able to adopt. It just gives us the information we need to help you make the best match with our available dogs.

Our adoption fees are $300. This includes a veterinary exam, their spay/neuter, microchip, all age approximate vaccinations and dental for the older dogs.

All adoptions are subject to a home check. We are not coming to judge you or your home. We just want to make sure that your home is a safe environment for the dog.
