My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

All Pound Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested, de-wormed (if required), and micro-chipped prior to adoption. The adoption donation of $400 is applied to assist in the costs of veterinary care and the overall care of the dog.

We at PDR firmly believe in the importance of obedience training, regardless of breed or size of dog, and have a clause in our adoption contract requiring adopters to attend and complete a basic obedience course at a facility of their choosing. Only in certain circumstances will we waive this clause, so please be prepared to attend dog school should you wish to apply for a dog through our program.

For more information and adoption applications please consult our website at www.pounddog.ca.

Let me introduce you to Glenn, a large, solid 5 year old Boxer with a gentle personality and a handsome grin.

Glenn was picked up as a stray and remained unclaimed by his family. He now has the opportunity to find his forever family. Glenn deserves a family who is as devoted to him as he will be to them. He needs to belong in a home where he will not be allowed to roam free and be safe, and where he can be confident in that fact that he is home forever and will never be lost or abandoned again. With his easy going personality, Glenn would do well in almost any environment. He is great in the car. Glenn has shown himself to be protective of his foster home. He will sound the alarm when he feels there is a threat. He will need a home with a secure back yard.
Glenn enjoys his daily walks and belly rubs. Without regular exercise, a dog tends to get into mischief. Glenn is a normal dog with average energy. He loves to go for walks and gets very excited when it’s time to go. He does not pull and walks at average walking speed. He does well with at least two walks a day no matter what the weather.

Glenn is completely house trained and will come to you and let you know that he needs to go out. He is also past the puppy chewing stage and plays with dog toys only. Glenn is not crate trained but this is unnecessary for him as he is very well behaved in the house. He sleeps on a dog bed at night or during the day. He loves everyone and will stay close to anyone who is available. We are still in disbelief that such a beautiful and lovable dog was abandoned. Glenn is good with other dogs and has settled in nicely with his foster siblings. He loves to play and roll on the grass. He would do well in a home with another friendly, well behaved dog, but this is not a necessity for him.

Glenn would do just as well being the only dog and getting all the attention. Glenn loves his people and wants to be around them all the time. He will snuggle with you on the couch or lie beside you while you are working. He will need a family willing to devote the time to make sure that he continues to be properly socialized and trained. Glenn does slobber a little bit so he will need a family who is ok with a little doggie drool.
Glenn is getting better with his two foster cats but still has a tendency to want them to run so he can chase them but he is learning that he shouldn’t. He would be better off in a home without cats at this point as the temptation to chase is hard for Glenn to resist. Glenn is being fostered in a home with other dogs and would do well with another gentle and submissive dog in the home. Glenn is not into rough housing, and he doesn’t like other dogs jumping on him or trying to dominate him. Glenn would be just as happy being the only dog and getting all of the attention. Glenn is not being fostered in a home with children. Even though he is good natured we would be looking for a home for him with kids over 10yrs of age as he is a very solid and strong dog and could easily knock over or inadvertently injure a younger child. Glenn knows basic obedience including "sit", give paw and “time for bed”. Glenn's new family will need to commit to continuing his obedience training at dog school to bring out the best in this smart dog. In the end you will have a fantastic dog that has all the love in the world to give.

Dogs are very cute and hard to resist but they do require a lot of time commitment and are not for everyone. We ask that anyone interested in Glenn research his breed and be aware of the Boxer’s particular needs and health concerns. Being a brachycephalic breed they can’t over exert in the hot weather for example. We are looking for a family for Glenn that knows the Boxer breed well and/or has done their research. Glenn loves life and is a happy, affectionate boy. He is looking for a forever home to share his life with. If you are looking for a dog that is mature, independent and easy going, Glenn may just be the perfect one for you!
