Ben's Story...
Name: Ben
Breed: Lab/Newfie Cross
Age: Adult
Gender: Male

Ben is as wonderful in personality as he is stunning in looks! This 3 year old Lab mix (maybe with newfie given his size and fluffy coat?) is a complete and total lovebug. He loves other dogs, he loves kids, and he loves every person he meets with a passion. If you’re looking for a family dog you can take to the kid’s sporting events, the cabin, and family gatherings, this boy is it. Ben has a healthy respect for cats as well. Ben has been an outdoor dog his whole life so the housetraining is new to him but he’s picking it up well. He needs a home who is committed to finishing up the housetraining and understand that he’s still learning. He crates nicely for the workday and minds his manners very well in the house. Ben would LOVE a home with a yard or someone who walks him daily. His leash manners leave a bit to be desired but he’s learning them. His desire to please his people and his smarts are shown off in how quickly he is learning everything. If you are looking for a smart, social, big buddy who is up for any adventure to join your life and willing to commit to finishing his training, please consider Ben. He is something special already and with a little more polishing with the training, he’s going to truly shine.

This HHK9 canine has tested positive for a heartworm or tick borne disease and treatment will be done through our vet before an adoption is finalized, so that we can do our part to ensure a healthy happy dog joins your home. Heartworm treatment consists of a 2 day treatment at the vet followed by 4 weeks of restricted activity, and placement timing is on an individual case by case at the comfort level of the foster and adopter. Tick diseases are treated through oral antibiotics sent home with an adopter by the rescue.

Requirements: No special requirements

You can email with questions and for a preadopt application. This dog has been spayed/neutered, vaccinated as age appropriate, tested for heartworm disease if age appropriate, and dewormed.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ben, a Minneapolis Labrador Retriever/Newfoundland dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Newfoundland for sale in Minneapolis, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Newfoundland dog from a breeder in Minneapolis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Minneapolis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Minneapolis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Newfoundland breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Newfoundland rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Minneapolis paves the way for another one to be saved.
