My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Howard is a 9 yr old male mix.

Howard is a very sweet old guy who deserves all the love in the world! He loves affection and will moan when you get just the right spot. He is well house-trained and has free roam of the house while we are away. He understands sit, stay, and come and responds well to gentle guidance. He's perfectly comfortable either being in a room with us and our dogs or sleeping on the floor by himself. Howard is a great eater and hasn't shown any aggression with normal food. However, there have been a couple instances of guarding with certain bones/treats that he especially loves.

Howard is a senior and has sginificant arthritis and hip dysplasia, but he still gets around pretty well and while receiving treats, often romps around like a puppy. He is on some meds for the arthritis and a special diet to keep the inflammation down. He may eventually have trouble with stairs as he ages, but otherwise he has a clean bill of health from the vet!

He likes to play with his foster brothers, but it quickly turns into him trying to mount them, which needs to be managed. Before he started his meds Howard was sensitive when the other dogs pushed or bumped into him and he has let his brothers know when he has had enough and is hurting. He would do well with other mature dogs that don't play too roughly. He would also do better with no children or older children. He has been cat tested and done great so a home with cats would work just fine for him.

Overall, Howard needs love, compassion, and a soft place to enjoy his golden years!
