Thea's Story...
We walked every aisle of animal control. Our minds were spinning as we tried to figure out how to shuffle pups to make room for the other amazing dogs we met. We had no space. Then we came to the second to the last cage and we saw Thea. She wasn't moving. She couldn't lift her head. She was dying. Five minutes later we were walking out of the shelter with an approximately 6 year old, 75lb. Doberman/German Shepherd mix. We were on our way to the ER and Thea officially went from a forgotten dog in a high kill shelter to a part of the One More Dog Rescue family. After a few days of being treated for a massive gash in her neck, which had left her riddled with infection, Thea began to improve and she has been thriving ever since. Thealina or Lina, as she is known in her foster home, is nothing short of an incredible dog. She gets along with everyone, dogs large and small and people of all ages, and is often found cuddling with the cat. She absolutely loves her crate and goes in on her own for naps but her favorite place to sleep is in "her" leather chair. We may enlist a moving fan to send it with her to her forever home! Ha! Thea is extremely gentle, even when she gets excited, and she smiles (really!) and puts her head under your hand so you can pet her! She is perfectly housebroken and has never had an accident. While she is still learning to play, her galloping around the yard is short lived so a canine companion should be of the laid back variety. Thealina did not have the best start and is very hand shy initially but like most of the resilient dogs we meet, she still manages to love and trust quickly. While Thea would be happy to go on a quick walk each day, what she wants most of all is a dog bed (or a leather chair) and a doting family to call her own. Thea is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and microchipped. If you would like to be the lucky family to spend your life with this amazing girl, please fill out an application at omdrescue.org.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Thea, a Wethersfield Doberman Pinscher/Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Doberman Pinscher/Shepherd (Unknown Type) for sale in Wethersfield, or seeking a Doberman Pinscher/Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Wethersfield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Wethersfield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Wethersfield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Doberman Pinscher/Shepherd (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Doberman Pinscher/Shepherd (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Wethersfield paves the way for another one to be saved.
