Important Note

Oghama is best friends with Fiona. Please adopt both of them so they can stay together!
Fiona, 13 Year Old Standard Grey Female Chinchilla
Ogham, 15 Year Old Cremino Neutered Male Chinchilla

Ogham is a neutered male chin who lost his mate a while ago. He is very happy to have found Fiona here in our rescue! They are about the same age, and in good health. Ogham has occasional dental issues, but his teeth are under control for now and he is doing very well on a special pellet diet we converted him to. He still eats hay, and LOVES treats of all kinds. Ogham is great with people and with other chinchillas. His larger than life companion, Fiona, has a personality to match her size! She is very active and very opinionated...but when she likes someone, she is a total lap chin. They both love each other and love attention from their favorite humans. These two may be an older couple, but they have a lot of love and a lot of life left to share with the right person!

About Chin Friends Chinchilla Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Chin Friends Chinchilla Rescue was started because the exotic pet trade in our country is busier than ever before. With the availability of these animals, many people impulse-purchase them, not realizing the commitment they are making. It gets overwhelming for some, and others didn’t quite realize the financial commitment or time commitment. Some people just lose interest, or their lifestyle changes and the pet does not fit in anymore. There are not many resources for people with exotic pets, and we aim to provide that for chinchilla owners.

We also realize great pet owners are made- not born that way, and each one of our adopters will have access to help, suggestions and any support they may need in the future.

Come Meet Our Pets...

All of our chinchillas are in private foster home, so we do not allow the general public to see the chinchillas without first filling out the adoption application. Once an adopter is approved, we will be happy to set up a private meeting so you can meet any chinchillas you are interested in adopting.

Our Adoption Process...

Unlike some rescues, we do not require a home inspection. We do require that you are prepared to agree to some basic expectations, including providing a proper cage, veterinary care from an exotic specialist, air conditioning, and a clean, quiet, smoke-free environment.

There is an adoption application available for download on our web site, and there is a $100 adoption fee per chinchilla. After filling out an application, one of our volunteers will speak with you for more information.
