11/29/16:

Sweet, sweet Jersey is an amazing girl. She is our favorite at the rescue. We are so upset that she keeps getting looked over, we cannot understand why, she is loved by everyone she meets!

She was dumped with her 2 babies out by a navy base to fend for herself. As usual, her babies were adopted fast. She is about 18 months, utd with vaccines, spayed and heartworm negative!
,
She is kennel trained loves her kuranda bed and spending her days playing with a Jack Russell name BJ. She is about 45 pounds and he is about 12 lbs, they are best buds. She will get along with the majority of dogs she meets. We have had her since June and she adjusts well to anything you do with her.
, n
She loves to chase toys outdoors and minds very well. She loves everything. If you adopt this girl you won't go wrong. We think she is a beauty and people are missing the beauty in her soul and heart. She loves her kennel time and her kuranda bed. I think she would be an awesome addition to any family. She adores kids and other dogs, not sure about cats.

Our standard adoption fee is $450 which covers:
All age appropriate vaccines (3 DHPP vax)
Bordetella (Kennel Cough) vax
Rabies vax if 12 weeks and older
utd on flea/tick prevention
utd on heartworm prevention
spay or neuter of pet
bi-weekly worming
heartworm test @ age 6 months or older
fostering costs
transport and health certificate

We do not adopt to anyone under the age of 21.

About Southern Dogs Adoption Coordinator - VT

About Our Rescue Group...

Southern Dogs Adoption Coordinator, works to facilitate the re-homing of puppies and dogs in need, all of them come from the efforts of our affiliate Mississippi & Alabama rescue groups and their wonderful dedicated foster homes who rescue and rehabilitate and take care of these babies for so long before coming northeast to their furever homes.

The majority of dogs and puppies in the south will be killed within 7 days of being dropped off at a shelter:
IF they are thought to be strays
IF an owner drops them off they could be on their way to be euthanized as the owner walks to their car
IF we have room in a southern foster home we can pull many of them and place them into foster care for several weeks, with a private foster family until they are fully vetted.
There are a lot of IFs in rescue.....
When there is a litter of puppies in need of rescue and their Mom is available we ALWAYS take her in, too, once her puppies are weaned she is spayed. Then they head north to new furever homes!

IF a dog or puppy is marked as "Northeast" it simply means they are already there or will come into northern foster care IF they are NOT adopted first, if they are adopted first they will arrive from MS or AL directly to their new family, once in their new home they must stay within the family's home and yard for one week!

Once a dog is committed to, they go on the next available transport. IF they remain in the MS or AL foster home they are taking up a space where another dog or puppy could be pulled from the shelter, or kept from going into a shelter, to come into rescue. Stray dogs and puppies have a 7 day "hold" in the shelter (waiting for someone to come in and claim them) before they are euthanized, so an adopted dog or puppy remaining in a foster home could mean the death of another dog or puppy.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We do not have one physical location. Our dogs and puppies are kept in private foster homes in Mississippi, Alabama and in New England (IF we are lucky enough to have a northern foster home) as part of a family, to help prepare them for transition into their northern forever homes and also to have enough time to have them receive all the necessary vetting we require before placing them with an adoptive family, for their health and safety.

You are very welcome to speak with the the foster family about the dog/puppy you are interested in after we receive your application!

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process involves a completed application, a vet reference, a phone interview/home visit and an adoption agreement must be signed. Each profile will indicate that particular dog's/puppy's adoption fee.
