Amelia's Story...

Hi, I'm Amelia. I'm a bashful, gentle young girl, with the gorgeous coloring of a Main Coon. My past is uncertain, but it's left me timid and unsure of things - but I so want to trust! When you reassure me, then I am thrilled to be petted and fussed over. I'm docile, and not at all aggressive. I get along well with other cats, and have become best buddies with Tabitha, a lovely kitty here at the shelter. We hang out together and often will cuddle up and fall asleep. I'd love to be adopted with her, but can also be adopted by myself to a home that will be willing to work with me and appreciate my sensitive, sweet temperament.

A RappCats adoption is quick and easy. We charge a $95 adoption fee, which is one of the lowest of any private cat rescue group. The fee includes the cost of shots and spaying/neutering. We can usually complete an adoption within two business days after we conduct a phone interview. If two cats are adopted, the adoption fee for the second can be lowered or waived.

RappCats is a non-profit organization that helps stray, abused, abandoned and injured cats in Rappahannock County, Virginia. All our cats are spayed/neutered, current on their vaccinations and socialized to make wonderful pets. For more information or to adopt, contact us at 540-987-6050, rappcats@rappcats.org., or visit our website www.rappcats.org.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Amelia, a Washington Maine Coon cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maine Coon for sale in Washington, or seeking a Maine Coon cat from a breeder in Washington.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Washington already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Washington breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maine Coon breeders who help with Maine Coon rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Washington paves the way for another one to be saved.
