Hope's Info...

I am already spayed, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, and not good with kids.

Hope's Story...
We introduce to you, Hope. She is 7 to 8 years young and weighs 6.6 lbs. Hope needs a patient and loving adopter who will allow her the time to come out of her shell and be the beautiful princess we know she is. Hope is very, very timid and scared. This little one has obviously been through a lot. Hope came to us from a small shelter outside of San Antonio. It appears she had been neglected, abandoned, and possibly in a little tussle with another dog. When we got Hope, her little mouth was just rotten. She had 14 teeth pulled and was spayed. After the doctors poked her with ouchie needles and she had to spend the night at the vet's office, Hope understandably has little trust in humanity or other dogs, but she does have HOPE. Little by little every day, Hope's great foster mom, Mandy, is teaching her to trust, that not all humans or dogs will hurt her, and that being pet is actually pretty nice. Hope still has a ways to go, but we are watching her blossom.

A SPECIAL NOTE FROM OUR RESCUE DIRECTOR: I know I should not choose favorites, but Hope is one of my favorite dogs in the rescue. I just love her and I would keep her myself if I could. Hope definitely chooses who she likes and dislikes. She is more friendly than not, and if she does not want to be bothered, she will just ignore the person or turn her head. When she loves you, she gives you hugs and lays her body across your chest or legs. She likes to know where you are and is still working on confidence, feeling secure, and feeling safe. There is something in the look she gives you, something in her eyes. You just know she has not had the best life and she has an 8-year-long story to be told. Hope is tiny and can appear timid at first, but she really shines once you give her the chance to get to know you. Just give her a chance to tell you her story.

I adore Hope and want her to go to the very best home. I never want her to feel loss, pain, or abandonment again. I never want her to be cold or hungry. It took 8 years for her to get to us, and I am going to make sure that for the rest of her years she is finally someone's everything.

If you are interested in adopting Hope and giving her a second shot at being someone's baby, apply to adopt her at Her adoption fee, including vetting paperwork, microchip registration to adopter, and harness and leash, is $200. Be prepared to be interrogated like you are adopting a child :)

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Hope, a Houston Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Houston, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
