When we were contacted by Hartford Animal Control about an emaciated dog in need of our help, we rushed to the rescue. Sadly we’ve seen many emaciated animals in our day, but poor Phoenix was literally skin and bones. Additionally, she was terrified of her own shadow. She would cower if a leaf blew by. We knew Phoenix needed special attention and a quiet home with a confident dog companion and thankfully a young couple offered to foster this sweet girl. Their dog was also extremely scared when they rescued him and has blossomed into a happy and confident dog so we knew this would be the right place for Phoenix to gain strength and heal emotionally and physically. We were right! She loves her foster brother and they have become fast buddies. She’s turned into a loving and happy dog! She has met kids and strangers and has done great with them all. Phoenix is slowly gaining weight and cannot be spayed until she reaches a healthy weight but she will be available for adoption hopefully by the end of the month. Why Adoption is a Great Option

Phoenix, a Hartford Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Hartford, or seeking a Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Hartford.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Hartford already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Hartford breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Hartford paves the way for another one to be saved.
