My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jax is a spunky, outgoing, wiggle-butt dog. He’s a mix between a Yorkie and a giraffe, with a little bit of Schnauzer thrown in. You think I’m kidding about the giraffe, but how else to explain a Yorkie head and body on those freakishly long legs. Jax is a year old, and he tips the scale at about 8 pounds. He is what is what we call an SSC dog—So Stinkin’ Cute.

When it’s playtime, Jax loves to run around the yard with a toy stuffed in his mouth. His foster home is a farm with chickens and ducks, but he leaves them alone. He also does fine with cats.

When he’s not playing, Jax wants to snuggle. This diminutive cutie loves to be held and lap-coddled. He became devoted to his foster dogmom practically from the time she took him in, and he follows her everywhere. If she goes out to the garage for a minute, Jax will cry until she comes back into the house. He wants all the attention he can get.

Jax is crate-trained and behaves well in the crate. His house-training is in progress, but there will still be some work to do. He walks well on a leash.

Jax will do best in a home with no other dogs. This 8-pound wonder feels that he was born to be the alpha dog and he will pick fights with other dogs to show his superiority—with no understanding that he is snack-sized for most dogs.

Jax would make a great little apartment dog, or a good dog for somebody wanting the fact that they’ve come home to be noticed and appreciated with rampant wiggling and tail-thumping. At a year old he’s still got some of his puppy energy and a bit of mischief, but he settles down very happily into a lap to be petted and loved on as he so well deserves.
