My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey, nice to meet you! My name is Balboa. I'm a 5-year-old neutered male Shar Pei/Pit mix. I weigh about 77 pounds. Not only am I handsome, I'm also sweet and gentle, with a lot of love to give. I get along great with people and other dogs.

Not much is known about my past because I first came into a local high kill shelter as a stray. When I was dropped off at the South LA pound, the vet there examined me and determined that I had Entropion in both eyes. This means that my eyelids were folded inward, causing my eyelashes to rub against my eyeballs constantly. You can imagine how irritating that was for me! It's a condition that requires surgery to repair, but the shelter didn't have the resources necessary to help me. Luckily for me, CageFree heard about my plight and agreed to step in. They pulled me from the shelter and sent me to their private vet, where the surgery was a success. Now I'm resting quietly while my eyes heal, and I'm so much more comfortable than I was before. I owe a lot of gratitude to the kind folks at CageFree!

While I recover, my friends here are working on finding me a loving forever home. I'm an adult dog, so I don't need a ton of exercise, but a few good walks and some playtime throughout the day would be great.
