My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MISTY is an 11 month old spayed black female Lab who weighs 53 pounds. Misty is a very sweet and quiet girl. She is used to living on a farm and enjoys exploring outside in a fenced in yard. Misty will blossom in a loving home that will give her the love and attention she deserves. Misty is good with other dogs and needs to go to a home with another dog as she has always lived with other dogs. She should go to a home with no cats as she will chase them. : Misty needs to go to a single family home in a quiet neighborhood or rural area. She needs a fenced in yard, not invisible fence. Misty is approved for kids 10 +.

Update: MISTY has had a busy week learning about household life. She’s getting more accustomed to sounds and activities that were so new to her; she’s making great progress. It turns out that she is an ace squirrel-chaser. Where the other dogs give up when the squirrel makes it up a tree, she stays at the base of the tree, watching closely to see where it goes.

Update:Misty is a lovely, sweet and somewhat timid 14 month old black lab who started life as a breeder dog. Thankfully, she was surrendered by the breeder when she developed entropion. That has been repaired and she’s now learning about life as a family pet. Though she is over a year old, her behavior is more like that of a very young pup since everything is new to her and she explores continually. She was absolutely delighted when another 8 month old foster pup arrived and the two of them played like maniacs, inside and outside, until they were both too tired to stand. She has plenty of puppy energy and definitely needs another canine sibling who can romp and roughhouse with her in a fenced-in yard. She is a little shy when meeting new people but soon approaches to give them a cautious sniff. She has done fine with both male and female visitors but unexpected sudden motions or loud noises still cause her to flee, though she’ll return quickly. She doesn't know any commands and is not completely housebroken, so she needs a family who will understand that, although she’s fully-grown, she is starting from scratch in terms of training and self-confidence.

Update: Misty is settling into her foster home nicely In the short time she's been with us she has discovered the toy basket, the squeakers inside the toys, the backyard and her absolute favorite - playmates ! This little girl is very sweet and although slightly shy, her tail never stops wagging. She is one happy girl who is anxious to explore everything at once ! She walks well on a leash and goes to the back door when she needs to do her business. She slept in her crate without a single peep. By far her most adorable trait is that she hops back and forth on her front paws when she gets excited. She would love a home with another active dog that will play with her in a fenced yard where she can run. She is curious and does follow her nose so a fenced would be best for her.

From rescuer/ transporter: Misty is a great girl. She is a little shy as everything is new to her. She did fine with me giving her some pets and TLC. Misty was a little scared to get in and out of the car but was a wonderful car rider.
