Meet Ckoos, a gentle giant, who at just one year old is pup daddy to several little ones who have passed through the Animatch doors. Thanks to the Nordic Paws project , life as someone’s pet is about to begin for Ckoos. Papa’s “got a brand new bag”, and it doesn’t involve his reproductive skills. Sadly, there are countless unsterilized dogs left in northern communities who could use a helping hand. There are many dogs left behind who are suffering from neglect, cruelty, and untreated injuries – with no veterinary care available. Few dogs are spayed/neutered, so lots of puppies are born with no one who wants them. Many die from exposure, injury or disease (vaccinations are nonexistent). The lucky ones board a plane and find themselves in a rescue, such as Animatch, who will ultimately find them a good home. One unspayed female can give birth to 16 puppies per year and even if only half survive and they remain unsterilized, the cycle continues. Education and sterilization campaigns are the only way to get this problem under control. We owe it to man’s best friend to at least try.
In the meantime, while Ckoos waits for his home – one which will give the training, exercise, and time that he needs. We would recommend a feline free home for Ckoos. Older children would best suit him as he is still a rambunctious adolescent. Of course obedience training would help him become the best dog that he can. Ckoos loves the outdoors, especially in winter, so an active family who likes to take long walks, go hiking, or roam around the neighbourhood would be ideal.
