My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Detroit!
Approx. 9 months
Catahoula Leopard/Lab Mix
Approx. 48 lbs

Detroit and his brothers and sisters came to rescue from a shelter in TN. They were shelter favorites and are real sweethearts.

Detroit is crate trained and housebroken, as long as he is let out enough! He loves kids and other dogs, though he is sometimes unsure when he first meets them. Once introduced, he loves everyone! Just like a typical young pup, he will need some training to become a respectful canine citizen. Detroits current foster home has a fenced yard and he would love to find a forever home with the same since he loves to romp and play. He would definitely benefit from an active family who enjoys to run, take walks, or frequent the dog park.

Detroit is extremely affectionate and is like velcro with his foster family. His favorite spot to be is right next to his people! He will make an excellent addition to a family looking for a playful and loving boy!

Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping.

We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email safehavendogsIL@yahoo.com for an application or additional details.

Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed.

Please consider becoming a foster home while you search for your new best friend. We need foster homes - pounds are overflowing with puppies and adult dogs that are at-risk and need help. We can only rescue as many as we have foster home commitments. Fostering is a rewarding experience for your family.
