Here's what the humans have to say about me:
I believe I can fly! I'm Dixie, a southern girl with lots of charm and a zest for life. I am one of the prettiest dogs with my tri colored coat and my soulful eyes. I have beautiful ears that love to be scratched and I love it when they flap in the breeze when I am running. Sometimes I feel like I can fly! Speaking of running I love to run around and explore at the dog park. I also know my name and come to my foster family when I am called. My foster mom says that I am super smart. Sit, Come, Stay, Leave it. I can do all of those things. Do you like to try new activities, meet new humans, and meet new dogs? Do you like to go on adventures? I sure do. I can't wait to find my own family and we can go on walks and adventures together. I am really good at walking in my harness. I would be a great running partner too. I really like to get out and stretch my legs. My foster mom says I am graceful like a beautiful thoroughbred. A fenced in yard would be great for me! How awesome is that? I can be goofy sometimes too. Who has time to be serious when there are things to sniff, people and toys to play with and bones to eat. I even entertain myself. I like to throw my toys up in the air and catch them. I am a hound dog you know so I don’t think I would like a home with cats. I have such a good sense of smell and tracking the I can’t help but track the cats! I working on this whole potty training thing. Now I have a reason to go outside all of the time. Because going outside is a lot better than going inside. When my foster family isn’t home I stay in my kennel. That’s ok with me. After I have my daily walk I like to crash.I am working on being left home alone. Are you my new family? Let's get together and go on some fun walks and adventures!
Dixie is estimated to be 2 years old and 33 lbs. Since we don't know at all what doggy genes are in the dogs make up (we don't know who mom and dad are!), we are just guessing on breed.
All dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. They have all had a vet exam, are up to date on vaccinations, have been given a dewormer, are treated for fleas, have a heartworm test if over 6 months old and are up to date on a heartworm preventative.
Please note that because we require a home visit at the time of adoption we can only place animals in homes within a 60 mile radius of Minneapolis. If you are interested in meeting this dog please fill out the pre-adoption application on our website at http://www.safehandsrescue.org under Adopt and we will get back to you to arrange a meeting in the foster home.
We are also having an adoption event at 783 Harding St. NE, Minneapolis, Minnesota, 55413 on Saturday, March 4, from 12-2pm. Please bring a copy of your pre-adoption application.
