My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please read dog’s entire written bio before contacting rescue. To inquire about this dog, you do not need to press any special buttons on this website. Send a regular e-mail to Janet Cook at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. Please provide some information about your home, family and other pets. Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue is a private, foster home based rescue. Though there are some steps that precede meeting a dog, they are quick and expeditious. Thank you!

SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! (It is a two part video of her playing with another dog that segues into a ball throwing stint).

Carla is a very sweet and loving, very people-oriented Maltipoo who is a little over the age of one. She was rescued as a pregnant dog from the Moreno Valley Shelter, in pretty bad shape, but is all fine now! 11 days after we pulled her from the shelter she gave birth to three puppies. Carla was a GREAT momma dog to her puppies. She weighs about 7.4 lbs., and her coat is curly and is low to no shedding and she may even be hypoallergenic. She is mostly all white in color. Carla will need professional grooming at least 4 times a year. This breed type, when all white, tend to have the eye drainage/staining, but an adopter can keep up with that.
Carla loves to run around and play. She has this cute little prance when walking along. She is very affectionate and intelligent. She catches on to the routine quickly and picks up when corrected. She loves other dogs but loves humans equally if not more. She has always been around other dogs, either a pack, or with her puppies. She really enjoys Raven, the 9-year-old female Shepherd in the foster home, who NEVER played with any other dog until Carla. They really love each other! (See video!) Carla is a happy dog who also loves to chase the ball and bring it back to you!

Carla rides well in the car, and has been fine whenever we have to take her to the vet. We have not spent a great deal of time walking her on the leash, as she has been busy having her puppies, being a mom, and then getting spayed, but generally, we think she will be fine. Also, (because most of her time has been spent being a mom to her puppies), she has been confined to a kitchen area that has been gated off, again, with her puppies. So though Carla has the core of potty-training down, she will need more potty reinforcement in a new place whereby her free roaming space is opened up to a larger area. Though Carla has already been a momma dog, she is still in many ways a puppy herself; she still has the need to chew, so chew toys and rawhides are a must. Carla is crate-trained, and sleeps quietly in a small wire crate at night. We think she should continue to sleep in a small wire crate for now, but adopters can wean away from this practice.

The home we seek for Carla is a home with another dog, and one where she will be allowed to “be a dog” and not carried around like a toy, in spite of her tininess. She has always been with other dogs, and has been able to run around and play in the yard with her pack and her puppies (she was a bit lost when her puppies were gone) and have a good time, as well as be a companion to the humans. Therefore, a yard is a huge plus! Though she loves people, Carla is somewhat sensitive to a change in her environment, and will need some time to adjust to a new place, new people, and a new routine, and the other dog in the home can help ease that transition. However, she will bond to her new people quickly.

Carla is spayed, fully vaccinated (including rabies), Front-lined, dewormed, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Carla, please contact Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. There is no need to phone the rescue until you have first submitted an interest via e-mail. Please visit my website at: http://www.angelsheartdogrescue.com and go to the Adoption Tab to read about the adoption process and fees; thank you!
