My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Moki is a Powder Puff Chinese Crested - although her ears are not erect. She is under two and still has that puppy fun excuberance but no negative puppy behavior. This little snow white puff ball weighs 9 pounds. She does not shed and her coat should be long and flowing but it has been cut, I would suspect due to matting. She came into rescue from a rural Ohio shelter. She is totally house trained, crate trained (although she does not need one). We will test her with children but I would think she would do great with respectful children 12 or older. We will also test her with cats.

This little dog is a whole lot of fun! She LOVES the ball. (Be sure to watch her video) As long as you will throw, she will play and if you don't throw she will play without you. Moki likes dogs of all sizes and definitely needs another playful dog in the home and to live with people that are somewhat active. She is not a dog that will enjoy sitting in the house all day. She is not a barker.

Moki walks on a leash but could use some lessons on leash manners. She knows how to speak for her ball but doesn't seem to know other commands. She waits to be invited on your lap or on the sofa. She has an excellent recall! She is not timid, is not concerned about being in situations that she is not familiar with. She went along with us to cut our Christmas tree and the neighbor's barking dog, the machine that shakes out all the leaves and all the people in the office didn't bother her in the least. She laid on my lap in the truck and looked out the window, unconcerned; coming and going. She is very nice with her food and not possessive with her toys.

Moki will need a fenced yard or fenced area that leads directly into the house large enough for her to run and play safely. She will need a playful companion and a somewhat active household. We are looking for an adopter that is not working away from home a typical 8 hour work day. Someone who works part time days, works from home or is retired (but active).

At Star-Mar we are natural care givers. Moki has been on a species appropriate diet; no grain, raw. Her's has been a true raw diet but there are many options; frozen raw, freeze dried or dehydrated. We do blood titer testing instead of randomly vaccinating and only vaccinate should titers show they are needed. We do not use any toxic flea or heartworm preventative and place our dogs in homes that are either already natural care givers or are willing to make that switch. We do not advocate no vaccines or no vetting but only when necessary. We protect our dogs from diseases and parasites but do it through non toxic products. Our dogs are living in toxic free environments and living healthy, active and disease free into their late teens and early 20's. We'll show you how....

If you feel that your lifestyle and environment can meet Moki's adoption requirements please contact Martha at learymjri@aol.com or call 330-466-3667 or 330-262-0515 for an application or more information. Moki's adoption will require an approved application and home visit. The adoption must be completed with the adopter coming to the foster home. Adoption fee is $275.
