Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Macy is a gorgeous 6 month old Plot Hound/German Shepard mix (one of her brother’s looks just like a Shepard). This beauty is full of spunk and play. She does great with her 6 yr. old 2 legged foster brother and her foster siblings. She thinks cats are fun but does try to pick them up and carry them off to chew on. It is believed this is for fun and not aggression but must be considered prior to adoption. Macy is a puppy and does still mouth. This tends to be harder first thing in the morning. She also still jumps so anyone with small children must understand that she will knock them down while trying to love on them until she learns not to do this. Macy exhibits signs of being an Alpha female and must have training to work through this. She is fostered with 2 older females who keep her in check; however, it is clear she with push the boundaries with other females. She loves to cuddle so if you are looking for a lap dog with a bit of weigh, but not a horse, she’s your gal! She is crate trained and is fed in her crate as she does show signs of food aggression with all dogs and cats. She has had no accidents in her crate and is mostly house trained. There have been some accidents in her foster home but they are not sure if it is her or her brother as they have not been witnessed. She is still working on walking on a leash and basic obedience.
Macy’s ideal family… A family with a yard to play in and a male sibling to rough house with.
Are you interested in adopting Macy or another JCAPL pet you have seen? You'll need to start by completing an adoption application, available online at our website: www.jcapl.org. There is no obligation to adopt by completing an application, however, we do recommend submitting an application as soon as you find an animal you are interested in. We review applications in the order they are received.
Completed applications can be sent via email to adopt@jcapl.org, faxed to 919-300-5524, or delivered in person by visiting us at one of our adoption events on Saturdays at PetSmart in Garner (White Oak Shopping Center).
We will contact you as soon as possible once we receive your application for Macy.
