Hi! My name is Gracie! I am a young, female spaniel/hound mix dog. I am probably around 1 1/2 years old. I am full grown (I weigh 53 lb.) but I am very much still a playful puppy. Being a puppy still at heart I have been known to get into a little mischief. I should be kept in my crate when you are away to make sure I behave. I am sure once I get to feeling at home there with you and mature a little more I can be trust worthy. I am also a velcro dog. I like to be with you. I am affectionate and like to give little kisses. I am not a barky dog at all but if there is a reason I will let you know. I am house trained. Only a mistake now and then but if I am let out often I do my business outside. I am crate trained. I am quiet at night in my crate. I would probably make a wonderful running companion. I walk perfectly when I am wearing my halti collar. I know how to sit and down. I have been good about waiting sometimes when my foster mom walks me and lets go of the leash. I would learn it all quickly if worked with enough. I am a bright girl . I like playing with other dogs but I am very possessive of my food or treats with other dogs so I think I would do best as an only dog. I think I would be happier getting all of the attention. I was around the cat cage at a pet store and I didn't pay any attention at all to them. I like kids, but since I am pretty energetic, older kids, not toddlers would be a better fit for me I think. I really would love a chance at a loving forever home.
Please consider me if you are looking for a playful and loving girl like me.
Love, Gracie xox

About volunteers for animal welfare, inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

VFAW is a small rescue organization that helps homeless dogs who are in kill shelters and strays. We do not have an actual shelter. We have individual foster homes that we keep our rescued dogs in until they find their forever homes. Once a dog in foster care gets adopted, it makes room for another dog to be rescued. We do everything medically needed done for each dog. We have taken in dogs with heartworm (and had them treated by vet), blind dogs, 3 legged dogs, special needs dogs, and very adoptable dogs. We do not euthanize.
We have been rescuing for over 9 years and have successfully found wonderful loving homes for hundreds of dogs. We keep in contact with the new adopters to make sure things are going well. If there are any issues we work with them to try to make it better. We do ask that if for some reason an adopter cannot keep the dog that it is returned to VFAW.
We started this rescue because we are in a very rural area where people need to be educated on over population. There are too many stray dogs running around and we decided something had to be done to help them. We spay snd neuter all dogs before adopting. We give out dog training dvd's to the new adopters to give them pointers on how to make it work. We encourage our adopters to give us updates and also let us know if they are having any issues. We want the adoption to be a success. We take in any breed, mix, size etc. All dogs in need are all important to us.

Our Adoption Process...

we have an adoption application to be able to find the right fit for the dog and the family. Once it is approved a meeting may be set up. There is a contract to sign. The normal adoption fee is $165.00. This does include spay/neuter, up to date on vaccines, heartworm testing, any other medical issues are addressed and fixed.
