HUNTER is a 5 year old neutered chocolate male Lab who weighs 68 pounds. Hunter is an easy and friendly dog who likes to get petted. Was brushing him the other day and took about half a dog worth of fur. He was very contented to let me brush him, don't think he had that much attention in quite a while. He enjoys play time and being with other dogs but thinks being inside with people is better. He told me he is over being hyper and ready to be a normal enthusiastic Lab. He would love a family that has with a yard they can play with him in. Hunter would like a house with a family will give him love, attention and training. He needs a home with a fence as he was a stray who had been on the road for a while. Good with other dogs has been out with other LR pups at the kennel with no problems. Knows sit, come and sometimes down. Pulls on lead when walking better with an Easy Walk Harness. Crate trained probably house trained, as he waits to go outside to go. Hunter was a stray to a shelter. He is approved for kids 10+. More info soon!
This dog is from a rural area and has not been exposed to traffic, noise, or groups of people. If dogs are overwhelmed by their environment, they can exhibit behaviors like excessive barking. To avoid this, for now we are limiting placement to stand alone single family homes in a suburban neighborhood or rural area. As we learn more from the dog's time spent in foster, we will evaluate if placement can be expanded to include a more urban environment and send out an update. Hunter needs a fence yard, underground fence is ok.
This dog is available for adoption from Lab Rescue LRCP. Lab Rescue LRCP rescues and places dogs in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and northeast North Carolina (30 miles east of I-95 and north of the Pamlico Sound) Adopters must travel to Maryland, Virginia or Washington DC with their family - human and canine - to meet the dog they want to adopt.
Lab Rescue LRCP has between 50 - 80 dogs available for adoption from foster homes across Maryland and Virginia and at monthly adoption events. The adoption event dates are listed at www.lab-rescue.org.

An adoption fee is charged to cover the cost of veterinary care and a home visit is required.
