My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oliver is a puppy of indeterminate breed (some Labrador and German Shepherd, almost certainly) and his exact age is unknown because no one knew how old he was when he was found, abandoned. The vet estimated 8-10 weeks when we first got him, so now at the beginning of December, he is just over three months old. He looks as though he will be mid to large size when full grown. Like most puppies, he is very cute, with those soulful eyes that look at you as if to say, "I hope I have been behaving appropriately."

He is learning to sit; he comes when called if it suits him(!) and walks obediently with a leash, without pulling. House-training is not complete, but he does oblige when taken outside and remembers always to sit and wait for his treat as soon as he comes in. Of late he has discovered a patch of soft earth in which it is great fun to dig.

He is gentle, though he exhibits alarm when hearing a neighboring dog bark; he was definitely uneasy when a certain cat indicated displeasure (they were separated by an enclosure); we have not seen him with children. He has behaved himself well in car rides and at the vet, who tells us that he has an overbite which may have to be treated when his second teeth come in.

Since he has been with us he has thrived, at least doubling his weight (from 3.2 kg when he came to us) and of course growing in size. He enjoys play, to the point of serious rambunctiousness, and we are teaching him to stop mouthing with the command "off!" He enjoys the outdoors, but when we take him to a new area (of a nearby park) he exhibits some anxiety; as soon as we turn back towards "home" he relaxes. But with more socialization, he will gain confidence and become a brave, social boy!
