My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

George is a 14 month old merle male with natural ears. George is not terribly large for a puppy his age, weighing in at approximately 105 pounds, but he is all personality! Although he experiences the zoomies, George is relatively calm and well behaved in the house. If you have ever heard the term “Velcro Dane”, you will understand George. He just wants to be with his people all the time. He will vocally express his companionship desires by howling when initially left alone but will settle after a few minutes. He has not been destructive when left unattended in his foster home but has been known to counter surf when given the opportunity. George is very food driven (likely the result of being rather thin when brought to MAGDRL). He is eager to please, a very smart boy and a quick learner. Don't let his mainly calm demeanor fool you as once he is outside and has other things to attract his attention, he displays the typical A.D.D. you would expect from a puppy and is always looking for something fun to do or chase. George does require some attention regarding leash manners and tendency to play with his mouth (occasionally grasping hands and arms playfully). George has interacted well with older children who are comfortable with large dogs. He has occasionally needed time to warm up to certain people (mostly men), but when properly introduced and approached has done well. This is understandable as George was left alone for a great deal when in his previous home. Proper socialization will greatly benefit him. George has shared living space with other dogs, but when placed in a high energy environment he can become quite overzealous. He does very well in a crate and enjoys rides in a car. Are you looking for a young dog to spend time bonding with? If you have the time in your life to work on socializing and continued training, George is the boy for you… and he will provide a lot of fun and repay with an abundance of love!

MAGDRL adopts to eastern NY, Eastern PA, NJ, DE, MD, DC, WV and VA only. As George is under two he requires traditional fencing. Please see our website: www.magdrl.org for our adoption procedures and fencing policies.
