My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Abe is a very gentle, kind and sensitive 50-pound, nine to ten-year-old, 50-pound, male Shar Pei looking for a loving guardian.

Abe spent much of his life on the end of a rope. He came into rescue scared and heartworm-positive. After a year and a half in rescue, he has learned so much!

He is great with other dogs and appreciates the kindness of dog-lovers. And, he will do anything for food, so treats are the way to his heart. And, he takes them so very gently from your fingers. He would do well in a household with teens and adults. Loud noises scare Abe, so small kids might be too much for him.

He is healthy, neutered, de-wormed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, and heartworm-free, and on monthly heartworm preventative. He is currently at the Pei Land Rescue in Plano, Illinois. Abe’s adoption fee of $200 benefits rescued pets.
