BlackieCP's Story...
Location: York, PA

Blackie, and his adopted “sister” Sunshine, are looking for new homes since their mom passed away and dad had to move to an assisted care facility.

Blackie is approximately 7-8 years old. His mom used to feed a colony of stray cats but fell in love with Blackie and brought him indoors since he was so friendly. Blackie can be a bit skittish when you first meet him but it may just be the adjustments to his usual routine and home life. He loved his mom and loved to sit with her, especially on her lap while she was watching tv. We think he will be just as warm and friendly once he’s in a stable environment and becomes comfortable.

Sunshine, also about 7-8 years old, is just an adorable girl! She was also rescued from the colony and brought inside. She has these huge, beautiful eyes and is very friendly. She typically doesn’t run and hide when someone comes in the house as many cats do. While she may be quiet, she’s also sweet and personable.

If you’re interested in fostering or adopting Blackie or Sunshine, please contact Sandy at 717-542-2254 or SHOOVER@ekmcconkey.com.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

BlackieCP, a Carlisle Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Carlisle, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Carlisle.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Carlisle already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Carlisle breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Carlisle paves the way for another one to be saved.
