Lazarus's Story...
UPDATE 12/07/08: I now weigh 30 lbs. I am growing like a weed! I love playing with the other dogs and puppies at my foster home. I am almost housebroken. I just need a little bit more time and patience but my foster mom says I am so smart that it won't take too long. I am growing up but am still a big teddy bear who loves to be up in your lap or loved on! Come see me soon!

UPDATE 11/11/08: I am really growing. I already weigh 19 lbs and will probably by 70 lbs full grown. I am still a big teddy bear. I am really laid back and just want to be loved on. I am completely crate trained and bark to let my foster mom know it is time to go potty! I am almost finished with my shots and will be ready for adoption! I am excited to meet my new family soon!

UPDATE 10/17/08: I was appropriately named Lazarus after the biblical story. I am the largest of my litter. My foster mom says that I am just a big teddy bear. I weigh about 12 lbs and just have a heart of gold. I am crate training which in turn is helping with my housebreaking skills. I can't wait to meet my new family soon!!

UPDATE 10/7/08: Wonderful news! My sister and I have survived Parvo and are now at home! We are so glad to be back with our foster family. We both will need 4 weeks to let our skin recover as well as receive the remainder of our puppy shots and get spayed/neutered. However, you can still fill out an application to adopt one of us! My foster mom says she will update our pictures soon!

UPDATE 10/2/08: All 5 of us now are sick with Parvo and are staying at the vet. My foster mom says we are fighting like heck to survive. She said that if only our mom had been vaccinated it would have given us some immunity to disease! Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Check back for more updates.

My foster dad found us about to get run over by a huge truck. He realized that my brother and I were part of the litter that was rescued from the same road on Monday. We both have the same skin infection that our siblings have and will need several weeks to recuperate. Check back for more updates & pictures soon!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lazarus, a Houston German Shepherd Dog/Australian Shepherd puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog/Australian Shepherd for sale in Houston, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog/Australian Shepherd puppy from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog/Australian Shepherd breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog/Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
