Petra's Story...

Petra is a female German Shepherd mix puppy who is 9 weeks old. We are thinking she and her littermates are all GS/Lab mixes as best we can tell. Petra is one of 4 puppies from an unwanted litter. This happens so often which is why IDGSR believes so strongly in spaying and neutering. Petra is a typical young puppy: cute, playful, and happy but also into everything and learning house manners and housebreaking. Puppies are a blank slate and require time, attention and training to become the best grown up dogs they can be. Puppy training class can be very helpful with this. Petra will be ready to go to her new family on December 30 but applications are being accepted now.

If you would like to make Petra a part of your family, please go to our website and fill out an application.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Petra, a Portland German Shepherd Dog puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Portland, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog puppy from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
