My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SOPHIE is a 13 year old spayed yellow female Lab who weighs 67 pounds. If you are looking for a sweet mature dog with no annoying habits and lots of love to give, look no further! Sophie has been a delight since coming into our home. She is sweet and loving, loves short walks and is quite happy napping by your feet or watching you putter in the kitchen. She can be trusted to roam freely when you are out and will welcome you back as many times a day as you enter the door! She has been great with children and human visitors of all kinds. This 13 year old sweetie enjoys short walks. She loves being with people, following you everywhere and sitting by you. She will share your bed if you allow her, and snuggle along side your legs. She asks nothing of you but love, comfort, something yummy, and as much of your attention as you can give her. She is very low maintenance! Sophie is a sweetheart who loves spending time close to people. She always greets us with her tail wagging and a friendly lick. As soon as she sees her leash picked up, she becomes as excited as a young pup. Her tail starts rotating in a circle. She has real pep in her step when going for walks, her favorite pastime, besides eating and taking naps. She waits patiently to be taken outside. No pulling or jumping up issues. She passes by squirrels and rabbits without any interest. She rides very well in a car. Sophie is a golden lady looking for a place to live out her golden years in luxury. She was previously an outdoor dog and lived in a kennel with several other dogs all her life. She was not well cared for and is looking for a family that can give her the love she deserves! Sophie has trouble with hearing so using visual commands works better for her. she prefers to be the center of attention in her home, so she needs to be the only dog. She is good with cats, no kid history so approved for kids 10+.

Update: Let's state the facts: Sophie is an older girl. Okay. She's also a beautiful, sweet, and loving soul. Is it her fault that her previous life wasn't great for her and she ended up homeless? No, it's not. She only lives in the present and has forgotten about that. She has been with us for a few months, and she is loved everywhere. She is soft and sweet and snuggly, and she is so low maintenance--a couple of outings to the yard or a few short walks and this girl is happy. She naps a lot and loves to go for car rides and is excited for her next adventure. She wants to be the center of attention. Can you blame her? There's nothing wrong with wanting all the attention when you spent a life without getting any of it. She doesn't want the nonsense of another young dog around or another older dog bumping into her. She lives in the moment and wants to get all that she can get. If Sophie finds her forever home, that means we can help another senior dog that is waiting and running out of time come into Lab Rescue and take her spot in her foster home. Think about it. HAVE YOU EVEN MET HER? I like this girl a lot. Go, Sophie!!

Update:: Every single person who meets Sophie loves her. She is sweet, beautiful and happy just to be around people. She is great to walk, easy in the car and loves to sniff her way around the backyard. She has a unique ability to open a low drawer and will occasionally take something out and leave it (unharmed) on the floor. Sophie has some hearing challenges but is in good health otherwise and would love to add some love and happiness to your home. For a lab lover who wants to do a little good in the world, she is for you! See Sophie on youtube here: https://youtu.be/zecDpCY0O88.

Update:: Sophie's vacation foster is eager to report that Sophie has mastered all of the essential commands: love-your-human, eat-the-pretzel, snuggle-on-the-sofa, and eat-off-the-fork! Sophie rides well in the car, is good in the house, and is a loving and an easy companion!
