This wasn't the holiday surprise Shay was expecting: Shay's family had her since she was a puppy and decided that, now that she's getting on in years, they didn't want her anymore. So they brought her to a high-kill city pound, dumped her and drove off. Old dogs are usually put to sleep immediately at the pound, but when the animal control officer took one look into Shay's soulful eyes, and was greeted by her happy, wagging tail, she didn't have the heart to make that Shay's last day on earth. So she spared her and kept her long enough for us to come along and pull Shay to give her a second chance at forever.
Shay may be an older lady but there will be no rocking chairs in her future anytime soon -- she's kind of the "Betty White" of older dogs! She's full of life, lights up when she sees you, and wags her tail at just a glance her way!! You just won't find a sweeter dog!! Shay is a true "people person" -- she LOVES people and gets along great with every dog she's met!! She's currently being fostered in a home with another playful dog and she even initiates play. She hasn't lost her "inner puppy"!
We think Shay is between 7 - 9 years old (though you'd never know it!) she weighs about 75 pounds and she's a very healthy girl. We have no idea what her true mix is, so if you're looking for a hypo-allergenic dog all we can guarantee is that she won't be allergic to YOU!
