Waldo's Story...
Waldo was 6 last April. He comes from a puppy mill, so right now he has no hair. They get so dirty and matted that before breeders get rid of them they shave the dogs to the skin. When his hair does grow out, he is going to be gorgeous--kind of a light silver brindle with dark points, and beautiful eyes. He is a very playful boy, and wants you to get out of that chair and play ball with him. He will try to take you by the hand and lead you out to the yard, where you will find all the things he has taken outside while you were so busy---laundry, shoes, sofa pillow, TV remote, etc, etc. All in good shape, just not where you left them. Wicked sense of humor! He is a great dog. Plays well with other dogs. Cats, not so much. Older kids are OK with him, as long as they will play with him. We do not charge an adoption fee, but do ask a donation to reimburse for our medical and transport expenses. That is usually $450 for an adult dog, $650 for puppy under 1 year, and reduced amounts for senior and special needs dogs. Now that we are officially a 501c3 charity, all donations are tax deductible Each dog will be spayed/neutered, heartworm tested (negative, unless stated otherwise), treated for parasites, and up to date on shots. While we are vigilant to get everyone as healthy as possible before we send them off to start their new lives, it is to be expected that, after the stress of traveling across the country from Kansas, (where our dogs are rehabilitated), and going to a new home, they will probably need to be retreated for parasites. We want to stress that your new friend needs to be seen by your veterinarian within the first week of arrival. We absolutely guarantee a happy adoption, or you MUST return the dog and we will undo the contract. If you are not happy, the dog is not happy, and we are not happy. We are in this to make the dogs happy. You may find some of our previously adopted dogs on our 'Happy Tails' page on this website. Why Adoption is a Great Option

Waldo, a Rye Cairn Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cairn Terrier for sale in Rye, or seeking a Cairn Terrier dog from a breeder in Rye.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Rye already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Rye breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cairn Terrier breeders who help with Cairn Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Rye paves the way for another one to be saved.
