Meet Chico!! Chico is a 5 year old Cattle dog/ Pit mix. He's a very easy to manage 42 pounds. What we thought was graying on his muzzle, we now believe to be coloring that comes from the cattle dog in him. If you want a loyal dog, happy to be with you wherever you go, that is done with puppy silliness, but still has plenty of play in him, then this sweet and engaging boy might just be for you!
Chico's shelter name was Dude — yep, Dude. Seems like kind of dud name, except that it did kind of suit him! When we were temperament testing, we walked the runs dozens of times, looking for candidates to test. We walked by the run where Dude was many times, and Dude didn't make it to the list to test. As we continued to strike out, we continued to look, and we finally stopped and took a l ook at this boy. He was in a run with a few other brown dogs, so that didn't make him stand out. He wasn't the youngest, or the most exuberant, or the prettiest, so we had overlooked him multiple times. But something made us pull him out to test, and when we did, something kind of magical happened! Not only did he pass, but we started falling for this boy! Turns out he's not as old as he looks, for one. And outside of that very full run, he is an engaging guy, with a cute and playful personality. Then when we did dog to dog intros, we were even more captivated when we saw him strut his stuff in front of the girls! We are so happy to have this engaging guy in our program - we love him, and we are sure that when you meet him, you will love him too!
Chico is just a chill dog ....so easy going. He is by far, the most laid back dog of the group. He just rolls with the punches — whatever is offered, he's happy to just be a part of it. Mellow, cool, even-keeled....he has a tough looking exterior with a big marshmallow heart. They really don't come any easier than this dog — nothing bothers him at all. But when a pretty girl dog struts on by......then he becomes a gigantic flirt!
Chico is located in Atlanta, GA and is available for adoption immediately. He will be able to go to his forever home after graduation from the Canine CellMates program. Chico is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all his shots. Canine CellMates dogs are trained in items similar to the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. They learn basic obedience and commands such as sit, down, stay, go to place, and leave it. They are also crate trained.
