My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi I’m Sebastian! I came from a hoarding situation with 80 other dogs (including my brother, Cookie) in KY. I’m around 2-3 years old and a Miniature Pinscher Mix.
Now, let me tell you a little about me!
• I LOVE laying in foster Mom’s lap on the recliner! If I have a running start I can just hop right up! I'll snuggle right up with my smaller foster brother and sister and just go right to sleep!
• I love to wrestle with my brother Cookie and my foster sister, Gumdrop. She is smaller than me, so I’m very cautious of not being “too hard” on her, but we just have such a blast together! I especially love when foster sister and I have “cardio time” in the house or yard and run back and forth chasing each other. Keeps me in shape!
• I’m getting really good at going potty outside! I’m not the biggest fan of the cold or rain so sometimes foster Mom has to go outside first to show me it’s ok. Then I just follow right out! Foster Mom says I’m a champ at holding my pee until it’s time to go. We still have the occasional accident, but I’m doing SO much better than when I first arrived.
• I love little dogs! I am currently staying with two small dogs and we get along just fine! Big dogs make me a little nervous, so slow intros are a must.
• I’ve met a few small humans since I came to IL and they aren’t so bad. I love been loved on and getting attention, so bring it on!
• For the first time in my whole life I have loads of toys to play with and yummy treats! I love playing tug-of-war with my brother and chewing on bones.
• I can honestly say that no shoes or pillows have been injured in my presence! But I do sometimes think that blankets are toys. Foster Mom just says “no, that’s not a toy” and I let go. Best to watch any folding of laundry if I’m around! I won’t eat it, but I’ll grab it and think it’s a toy.
• I’m not very big on leashes. It’s not that I want to be out of it. It’s that I don’t know what it is to be walked on a leash and I’m scared where I’m going. I think having a harness on me might be a good idea.
• Sometimes brother and I bark at the TV. That Walking Dead show is scary!!!!
• I LOVE my people and meeting new people! Bring on all the petting! I’ll be sure to let you know if you shouldn’t stop petting me too by “pawing you”.
• I sleep in a crate at night with my brother and we do very well all night and will be so excited to see you in the morning! We are also crated when Foster Mom and Dad are at work. So, I guess you can say we are what humans call “crate trained”.
• I do this funny thing when I get excited and my tail starts going 100 mph where if you say “CHEESE” I’ll smile and show my teeth in a funny way! I don’t do it all the time, but when I do it’s so funny!
• I do have a front paw that is smaller and little deformed. The vet thinks it is a birth defect. Sometimes when I’ve been off of it for a while I’ll act like I only have three legs, but then once I get moving I’ll start using it and then I’m off and running! It also doesn’t hurt me one bit if you touch it.
• I don’t mind baths. Normally I just stand there too scared to move. But I sure do love shaking that water off!
It’s important to remember that I am learning how to be a dog. So sometimes you’ll have to carry me (don’t worry, I’m not that heavy- only 35 lbs.), encourage me, and show me what to do. You may have to go outside in the backyard first so that I know it’s safe to be out there and that you aren’t going to just leave me outside. But I have a heart of gold and everyone who meets me, loves me.
