My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 4 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 42 lbs
Variety: Bench

Baxter is a sweet and gentle Springer who really enjoys being active with his foster family. He loves to be involved in whatever is happening in the home. Baxter also enjoys taking a nap right next to his people. His foster family describes him as a very respectable and obedient boy.

While Baxter loves all attention, he tends to be more comfortable around women, although he did come to love his foster dad after a bit of time had passed. Baxter has a special way of connecting with his people and taking his place in their hearts once he has become comfortable. Any children in his Forever Home should be at least thirteen years old. The perfect environment for Baxter would be one in which he will be the only dog. Although he gets along fine with the resident dog in his foster home, Baxter really deserves to be "the king of the castle."

Baxter has had free rein of the house since his first day in foster care. He is very respectful of the rules, and he behaves himself while his foster parents are away, although he is always very excited to see his foster family when they return! Baxter is reliably housetrained. He prefers to sleep in the humans' bed, but he is content sleeping on the couch.

His foster family recommends a calm and patient family for Baxter. It takes some time to gain his trust, but once he feels secure with you, he is a real sweetheart. Baxter shows an excellent balance of independence and the desire to be with his family. Are you looking for a lovely boy to cuddle and pet? This special guy could be your next loyal companion!

Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Baxter.
